Elon Musk, CEO of X Corp., has announced on Twitter that a new CEO has been hired for X/Twitter. Though her identity is unknown, she will begin her new position in six weeks. This comes as a surprise to many, as Twitter has been without a CEO since Jack Dorsey’s departure in November 2022.
Musk’s New Role and X Corp.’s New Direction
The new CEO will have a lot of responsibilities, as Musk plans to take X Corp. in a new direction. He will be changing his role to executive chairman and chief technology officer, overseeing the operation of products, software, and systems. Musk’s goal is to make X Corp. a “universal app,” similar to China’s WeChat. This means that Twitter will become more than just a social media platform, as Musk is considering integrating X Corp.’s other products and services into the platform.
Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks!
My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops.

Recent Changes for Twitter
Twitter has undergone many changes recently. In April, X Corp. acquired Twitter Inc. as a first step towards becoming a “universal app.” This move could potentially change the way people use Twitter. In February, Twitter made text-based two-factor authentication a subscriber-only feature, which received mixed reactions. In January, Twitter updated its developer agreement, prohibiting third-party app makers from building their own clients using Twitter’s API. This move was controversial among developers who felt that it stifled innovation and creativity.
