miHoYo unveiled details about Genshin Impact’s upcoming Version 4.0 update during a special preview livestream event. Titled “Like Fluttering Leaves”, Version 4.0 arrives on August 16 and introduces the new Sumeru region along with characters, quests, events, and more.
The highlight is the new nation of Sumeru, the second of seven major regions in Teyvat. Version 4.0 will gradually unlock parts of Sumeru, beginning with the lush rainforest area. New characters like the scholarly Dendro bow user Tighnari will debut.
Exploring the Mysteries of Sumeru
Sumeru brings a vibrant new realm steeped in lore to uncover. The rainforest zone features giant fungi, ruins, and landmarks like the Court of Flowing Sand.
Dendro finally becomes a playable element with Tighnari and other characters. New enemies and challenges await, and two new artefact sets to earn.
A major new Archon quest will uncover Sumeru’s secrets. Travellers will also experience Tighnari’s backstory through a Story Quest. The new area and searches promise to reveal more of Teyvat’s mysteries.
New and Returning Playable Characters
Tighnari takes the spotlight as Sumeru’s first new Dendro bow user. He is joined by fan-favourite Geo polearm wielder Zhongli and Pyro polearm user Hu Tao as returning 5-star rate-up characters.
4-stars Collei, Dori, and Fischl will also be featured across Version 4.0’s dual Event Wishes. Two signature 5-star weapons for Tighnari and Zhongli debut as well.
