According to leaked details, Xiaomi’s next flagship phone, the Mi 14, will feature an even narrower bezel than the already slim bezels expected on Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro.
The iPhone 15 Pro is rumored to have a frame width of just 1.5mm, the thinnest ever on an iPhone. However, the Mi 14 is said to shatter Apple’s record with an impressively slight bezel measuring only 1-1.5mm.
Innovative Screen Technology
Xiaomi has reportedly collaborated with display maker Huaxing Optoelectronics on a customized straight screen to achieve such narrow screen borders.
By rearranging internal wiring, Huaxing’s design saves space normally used by fanout wiring in the bezel area. This allows for bezels 20% smaller compared to current phones.
Slimmest in the Industry
While the iPhone 15 Pro will boast Apple’s slimmest bezels yet at 1.5mm, the Mi 14 is set to have the narrowest bezel of any phone with its sub-1.5mm edges.
Xiaomi had to ensure sufficient durability for the ultra-thin body but still brought the Mi 14 bezel down to just over 1mm.
Battle of the Bezels
The race for slimmer bezels continues to heat up between Apple and Xiaomi. The iPhone 15 Pro and Mi 14 showcase incredible display and device design innovations, powering the next generation of smartphones.
Consumers will have to wait for the official release specifications, but for now, leaked details suggest Xiaomi may have edged out Apple in the bezel wars. Either way, the future looks bright for sleek, bezel-less smartphones.
